About The Better Body Club

The Better Body Club Club was founded by Lisa Lingard in 2009 on her return from living and working abroad for a number of years.

Lisa is a fully qualified fitness professional with over 20 years of experience in the fitness industry, she has used her knowledge and experience to build a business that offers a wide range of classes. She now has a team of instructors working alongside her, all of who have a passion for bringing high-quality classes to their clients. The team pride themselves on being friendly and welcoming to everyone and ensure that whatever fitness needs clients have, the program is so varied and exciting that there will be a class to suit all.

The Better Body Club has a proven record of obtaining great results for its clients, looking to the industry for all the latest innovations and advice to always deliver classes that are safe, effective, and relevant.

Lisa Lingard

After her initial training with Future Fit, Lisa started her fitness career in Military gyms abroad, both in Cyprus and Belguim before heading back to the UK in 2009.

At this time she settled in Warsash and set up her company, the Better Body Club. Lisa believes that fitness should be for everyone regardless of their injuries, age or class preference and has worked to create a timetable that reflects this. Although Lisa enjoys teaching a wide variety of classes she has a particular love of dance, Pilates and music.

She has now moved to Denmead where she has set up another venue to teach fitness classes and her spare time is taken up with even more physical activity walking her 3 dogs and taking her 2 daughters out on their horses.

Martine Macdonald

Martine has always enjoyed all types of sport and fitness, running, squash, skiing, and fitness classes.

After taking early retirement from her banking career she qualified as a Pilates teacher and started teaching for the Better Body Club. She teaches all levels of Pilates including Chair Pilates. She also takes some Keep Fit and Toning & Strength classes.

Victoria Donkin

Victoria started to practise yoga whilst going through a challenging time as a way to look after her mental health and unwind after a stressful workday. She had no idea that she would sign up for teacher training just 3 years later! 

Living with her husband and dog in Hedge End, she is also Company Secretary for a local charity, and loves to sing, bake, geek out with a book or board game, and hike across the countryside. 

Having recently qualified as a Yoga Alliance Professional certified teacher, Victoria is a huge believer that yoga is not just about building flexibility and strength. With time those will come anyway, but the biggest benefits can be so much more than that. With regular practice, yoga has been found to improve:

  • physical health and your immune system
  • sleep and memory  
  • physical and mental resilience
  • mental wellbeing and lower your stress hormones... and so much more.

And in case you were wondering:

  • You don't need to be able to touch your toes
  • You definitely don't need to be able to do any of the poses you see on Instagram
  • You can't 'be bad' at yoga
  • You just need to show up and try

Anita has taught tap, ballet and modern dance to both children and adults for many years.

She is a busy lady as she runs her own dance school in Kent and also works as a book keeper.

In recent years she has qualified in Mat Work Pilates and Personal Training and teaches a variety of these types of classes for the Better Body Club.

Betsy Schrader

Betsy has worked in the fitness industry since 2012 teaching a variety of classes as well as working as a singer in the UK, USA, and Europe. At the beginning of 2020, Betsy graduated from Yoga Teachers College and now teaches Vinyasa Flow style Yoga. 

Betsy's classes focus on strength, flexibility, and balance whilst flowing with breath through a series of poses. Betsy provides clear instructions with a focus on alignment and options for all levels of student. Betsy teaches an active class guaranteed to build heat in the body, challenge your expectations of what you are capable of and allow space for deep stretches and relaxation. 

Betsy first started practicing Yoga as a way to increase her flexibility whilst training for a career in musical theatre. Whilst gaining flexibility Betsy also discovered that Yoga has so much more to offer than just becoming more bendy.  From practicing Yoga you can gain stress management, an escape from your busy day, mental and physical strength, flexibility, confidence, stamina, injury prevention, improved posture, and balance. 

Betsy believes yoga is for everybody and provides a safe judgement free zone to practice wherever you are at on your health and wellness journey.
